Location: Rincon Beach, CA

Date: September 3 & 4, 2020

Installation Specs: 2 days. 7 hours. 7 feet in circumference. Laid on the sand of Rincon beach.

Notable Features:

• Made from 100’s of pieces of driftwood from the California Thomas Fire of 2017.

• Sacred space was set through the ritual of opening the four directions and offering prayers and setting intentions in the center of the space.

• Each piece of driftwood was infused with prayers and intentions before being placed in the piece.

• Maia felt that the “medicine” of the piece was working when on day 2 she arrived to find a beach goer napping with their head on the piece. Weeks after the piece was finished she voyaged to the site and discovered it had not been washed away, but transformed into a peace symbol.
